Jameson’s coopers called it “bringing the wood back to life.” Select Reserve features charred and double charred bourbon barrels that deliver unique spiciness, vanilla sweetness and nutty notes.Irish whiskey comes from Ireland (where whiskey was first invented in the 15th century) and can be made from malted and unmalted barley. It has a reputation for being a lighter, gentler spirit because Irish distillers often triple distil their whiskey to remove as many impurities (‘congeners’ is the technical term) as possible before barrelling. Like scotch, some varieties of Irish whiskey can be made with peated malts, but it is less common.Taste note features a conglomerate of nutty notes alongside the smooth sweetness of spice and vanilla. Time spent maturing in these barrels leads to intensified aromas of butterscotch, fudge and creamy toffee.
